Hellfire Events; a project born of pure passion for running. It’s been a longstanding ambition for its founder, Ryan Castle, to recreate some of the challenging events he and the Hellfire Team have participated in over the last decade. After travelling all over the country to compete in the much-loved sport and through countless hours of conversations and the support of those closest to him, Ryan is now beginning to realise this dream by bringing the action to the team's home town of Dover.

Hellfire Events is a sports events company based in the coastal town of Dover.  Our goal is to host exciting and challenging races in a variety of formats.  Races are currently based predominantly in Dover itself, with the intention of expanding further into Kent and beyond.  We are currently working on a series of races which showcase the historical highlights of the town.  Our aim is to offer runners a truly unique experience with every race and to consistently provide type two fun to all those who seek it.

As with any sporting event, we are nothing without our volunteers and we readily encourage anyone interested in joining our team to get in touch.

Fiercely proud of Dover and its heritage, Ryan and the team have been fortunate enough to have been awarded the opportunity by The Citadel to host the venue's maiden running events. It is the hope of the Hellfire team that this promotion of Dover, including many of its landscape's seldom-discovered treasures, will encourage tourism into the area and showcase all that Dover has to offer.

We are a new company with big ambition. We are currently seeking partnership to support our organisation; for more information please contact us at info@hellfireevents.com.

Dover Running Series has been created as an exciting opportunity to showcase the modernisation of the centuries-old Citadel; the UK's largest fortress from the Napoleonic era, set in the Historic beauty of Dover. The three routes each take you on a multi-terrain journey through the very best of Dover’s Historical landmarks, as well as its breathtaking coastline.

The Citadel has reinvented itself over recent years, now standing evermore proudly at the highest point of Dover, it's home to a cultural variety of arts and innovation, and it's fast becoming a beacon for the regeneration of the seaside town.

The Citadel's vast revetment was once a jogging track for the prisoners incarcerated within the fortress, but now reimagines itself as an integral part of this series of sporting events.

You can choose to participate in a singular event or challenge yourself to complete the whole series.

The further you progress through the series, the more you will see what Dover and its surrounding area have to offer you.

This really is a unique opportunity to experience the Citadel on its first public sports event weekend.

2024 is going to be a very exciting year for endurance sports in Kent so why not join our mailing list so you don't miss out.

Here's a selection of events we aim to bring you in 2024

The Backyard Ultra is a form of Ultramarathon race. Competitors must run a distance of 6,706 metres (4.167 miles) in less than one hour. This is then repeated every hour. The race is over when only one runner remains to complete a lap. This runner is marked as the winner and only finisher, with all other runners receiving a "DNF" (Did Not Finish.) There is no predetermined end length or time in a Backyard Ultra and the race continues as long as multiple runners can complete the loop within an hour.

These events require participants to run for 12 or 24 hours straight, covering as much distance as possible within the allotted time frame. The physical and mental demands of these races are immense and only the most dedicated and disciplined runners are able to complete them. The key to success in these events is pacing oneself and maintaining a steady rhythm throughout the race. For many runners, the sense of accomplishment that comes with completing a 12 or 24-hour endurance race is unparalleled. It takes a tremendous amount of grit and determination to push through the physical and mental fatigue, but the feeling of crossing the finish line is truly unforgettable. This type of event is designed for those who want to challenge their limits. These events are ideal for someone wanting to get into Ultra running, as the timing element allows you to simply run and achieve your personal best.

David Goggins is a name that is synonymous with endurance and pushing oneself to the limits. He is a retired Navy SEAL who has completed numerous Ultramarathons and Endurance Challenges. One such challenge is the Endurance 4x4x48, which involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours straight. This challenge requires not only physical endurance but also mental strength and discipline. It is a test of one's ability to push through pain, fatigue, and doubt. David Goggins has completed this challenge multiple times and believes that it is a great way to build mental toughness and resilience. The Endurance 4x4x48 is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are willing to push themselves to their limits. It is a reminder that we are capable of achieving more than we think we are and that the only thing holding us back is our own self-doubt. David Goggins is a true inspiration and his endurance challenges serve as a testament to the human spirit and the power of perseverance.
