JOIN THE
HELLFIRE CREW
Not everyone steps into the Arena to run.
Some choose to stand at the edge of it…
and make it all happen.
That’s the Hellfire Crew.
We don’t see volunteering as something
on the side.

At Hellfire, it’s part of the event.
We like to create an experience within the experience.
Three ways to take part in a Backyard Ultra.
Running is just one of them.
The Hellfire Crew is a community in its own right.
A group of people who show up for each other, not just for the event.
Friendships are built here. Stories are shared. And before long, you’re not just helping out for the day…
You’re part of something.
We want your time with us to be just as memorable as it is for the runners out on course.
WHY PEOPLE JOIN THE CREW
It’s not just about helping out.
It’s about being there when it matters.
You see the highs.
You see the tough moments.
And you’re part of the reason people keep going.
You help build the community.
You support others in achieving something big.
And along the way, you find your place in it too.
There’s conversation. There’s connection.
And there’s always something to learn — especially when you’re watching people go deep into a Backyard Ultra.
You don’t have to be a runner to be part of this.
But once you’re in… you’ll understand why people keep coming back.
You give your time.
WHAT YOU GET BACK
You give your time.
You meet good people.
You’re part of something that matters.
And you see what it really takes when things get tough.
You’re there when people decide to go again.
There’s also the simple stuff.
£10 per hour in fully transferable race credit.
Milestone rewards.
Early access to events.
Access to sold-out races.
Snacks while you’re there.

WHAT WE ASK FROM YOU
You don’t need experience.
But how you show up matters.
Be encouraging.
Be thoughtful.
Be ready to get stuck in when it counts.
Our events run through the day and into the night.
So there are roles available across both.
We ask for a minimum of 6 hours.
There’s no maximum.
Most people stay longer.
Because once you’re in it, you don’t really want to leave.
You’re not on the sidelines.
You’re part of the event.
People rely on you.
JOIN THE HELLFIRE CREW
It starts with one event.
From there… you’ll see.
CREW ROLES
There are two main ways to be part of the Hellfire Crew.
COURSE OPS

Out on the course.
You’re the visible presence runners rely on.
Keeping things moving. Checking in when it matters.
Course Ops is an active role.
You may be moving along the course on foot or by bike.
A few words at the right time can make a big difference.
RACE CONTROL
At the centre of it all.
You’ll be based at the start and finish area.
Helping manage the flow between yards.
Supporting runners as they come in, reset, and go again.
You’ll see every lap. Every decision. Every turning point.
